If we did all the things we are capable of doing, we would literally astound ourselves- Thomas Edison.
HI!! These are reflections on what really being human is all about. So many of us as Iyanla Vanzala says, we exploit our talents and fail to maximize our craft. Your craft is being human. Being an awesomely wonderful human being is the secret to leadership. Compelling caring creates connections. You will realize that it has been in vain to walk this earth, if your absence will not make a difference.
I realize that renewal to a man is because of a kind heart, a generous spirit and being compassionate and in service of our fellow men. Only a life lived in the service of others is worth living. Life isn’t about you, when will you realize? As we lose ourselves in the service of others, we discover our own lives and our own happiness ~ Dieter F. Uchtdorf.
We connect faster when we shift our focus from us to the other person. It is the whole paradigm of seeking to understand first then to be understood. Marketing 101 asks you to ask: what is in it for me. That suffices if your desire is to just make enough to live by, to be good enough to be mediocre. People buy so that they can stay to hear the story. Do not sell, tell. Connection, the desire to be understood, is the greatest of all human desires. It is by connecting and developing inner insights that we can be able to leave a legacy. Purpose is about understanding the burden of demand, and honing your leadership to provide direction, guidance and inspiration that will solve them.
We must constantly remind ourselves to expand our vocabulary. Vocabulary determines how you frame a circumstance. With a limited vocabulary, your outlook and responsive pattern shrinks. If the hammer is the only tool you have, every problem becomes a nail. Language is the magic wand in leadership. You become what you bespeak. We do not speak language, language speaks to us. Language makes our reality exist. It is the bridge between the done and the undone. So to speak, we must first speak with an open mind, creating possibilities to our destiny.
Again, we must speak with an open will, understanding that the hand of chance in love points us to our purpose. Be it to me according to your will. Not my will but your will, father, be done. Said by Mary and Jesus respectively in the Bible. It is showing meekness, understanding that we are imperfect in knowledge and thus surrendering to the perfect will and the infinite knowledge of God. It is coming into a mental and emotional state of openness and appreciation of new experience, while trying to clearly recrystallize the experiences of the past. This is what allows us to wait before criticizing, to give the kind of love that makes others feel free, that allows us to empathize before we judge.
When we shift the range of our vocabulary, when we embrace the language of leadership, we take the power from negative emotions, and experience positive energy and positivity in everything we do. We see different, so we find different. If you are looking for something to criticize, you will find it. If you are looking for something to show gratitude for, you will find that too. Eventually, everything connects.
